POSITION TITLE: Intern, Evangelization and Family Life
DEPARTMENT: Evangelization and Family Life Office (EFLO)
REPORTS TO: Events Coordinator, Evangelization and Family Life Office
EFFECTIVE DATE: May 2021
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
HOURS PER WEEK: 40

POSITION SUMMARY
Intern will assist the office in planning, implementation, and analysis of ongoing programs and events in the Evangelization and Family Life Office. Potential areas of focus are: Sacramental Preparation (Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage), Natural Family Planning, Family Life Ministry, Family Leadership Formation, and Youth Ministry Summer Events. Specific goals and objectives will be communicated to the intern at the beginning of employment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet with the Events Coordinator to determine the scope and timetable for specific projects as they are assigned
• Actively collaborate with Events Coordinator and other EFLO staff on assigned responsibilities
• Keep a log of work performed and provide regular progress updates to Events Coordinator
• Maintain ongoing and open communication with Events Coordinator about assigned responsibilities
• Virtual and On-site preparation, set-up/clean-up, and coordination of project-related events
• Support the projects and department through in-person contact, phone, mail, or e-mail communications.
• Assist with documentation and maintaining of records and databases in keeping with EFLO and Archdiocesan standards, particularly those related to sacramental preparation.
• Assist with EFLO communication related to internship projects; both in-house and to the public.

• Committed to ongoing training and professional development; regularly explore methods to improve quality and efficiency of work.
• Intellectual and experiential knowledge of the Catholic Church required, particularly as it relates to teaching on family, the domestic church, and lay ministry.
• Knowledge of and/or desire to learn principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training efforts.
• Committed to building a Culture of Life and promoting the sacredness of life from conception until natural death.
• Develops actions and plans in relation to others; share knowledge and information with others as helpful and appropriate; and contribute to team efforts.
• Positively and accurately represent the department and the Archdiocese; respond to information requests promptly.
• Proficient in computer and keyboard skills as well as an ability to learn and effectively use software relevant to job duties (i.e. Microsoft office suite/Teams, C-Vent, Formstack, Zoom).
• Make sound decisions based on available information; inspire other’s involvement in problem solving and implementing solutions.
• Effective at written and oral communication.
• Ability to establish strong, positive, interpersonal relations with a variety of personalities and work styles; understanding of the need for situational confidentiality and attention to business ethics.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and full assent to all magisterial teaching.

WORKING CONDITIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building.
• Requires sitting for the majority of work duration; involves typing and other repetitive movement.
• Maintains regular office hours with flexibility (some weekend and evening hours communicated at the beginning of employment) to meet the needs of ministry partners and co-workers.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• 5% - parish visits with other EFLO staff members and event travel, including occasional weekend and evenings.
