Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:
Meet with applicants to explain the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as terms of those services. Analyze and determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans. Obtain and compile copies of applicant’s credit history, corporate financial statements, and other financial information. Evaluate credit worthiness by processing loan applications and client documentation.
Approve loans within specific limits and refer clients outside those limits. Complete loan contracts and counsel clients on policies and restrictions. Determine all applicable ratios and metrics and set up debt payment plans.
Follow up and negotiate payment arrangements with clients who have delinquent loans.
Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services.
Maintain accurate, thorough, professional records. Conduct periodic surveys of current and past clients to determine ways to improve services and to assist businesses with general small business development.
Build trusting relationships, customer loyalty and satisfaction throughout the underwriting process. Coordinate teaching structures and relationships needed to support clients and further the goals of effective microbusiness development.
Operate in compliance with laws and regulations and adhere to lending compliance guidelines. Maintains working positive relationships with related community groups, including NBDC, OSBN, SBA, lending institutions, which further the continued development of microbusinesses.
Support agency Performance Quality Improvement processes and assist Program Director with data collection, reporting, and supervision of volunteers as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Reliable attendance is an on-going essential job function.
RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Fully Bilingual (English-Spanish), being able to speak, read, and write fluently in both languages.
Understanding of diverse cultures with sensitivity to all low-income persons and other disadvantaged persons with multi-cultural backgrounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication and adult teaching skills.
Computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and QuickBooks.
Up-to-date working knowledge of small business management and self-employment issues, including requirements at the local, state and federal level.
Ability to function as an active, collaborative team member.
Required of All Positions:
Knowledge and support of Catholic Charities’ purpose, mission, vision, values, and ethical standards.
Knowledge and support of the Catholic Charities Compliance Program requirements including – but not limited to – the Code of Ethics, the Compliance Policy, and all relevant compliance procedures.
Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Education and Experience
Proven work experience as a loan officer with knowledge of banking applications/software.
Solid understanding of direct/indirect lending products, practices, and laws.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
4-Year College Degree
