POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Chastity Formation

This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting archdiocesan and parish initiatives, programs and events that proclaim and promote the Church’s teaching on chastity and the dignity of the human person. The coordinator will be a representative of the archdiocesan approach to sharing the truth, beauty and goodness of authentic love, and chastity, while also assisting the director in providing guidance and resources for parishes and schools to accompany and guide youth, young adults, adults, couples and families in their formation in the virtue of chastity.

• Serve as a member of the Center of Family Life Formation staff, assisting archdiocesan staff, clergy and lay people by creating, providing, and evaluating a variety of materials, programs and events related to chastity formation
• Assist the director with outreach, mentoring and ongoing formation of clergy and lay leaders in both parish-based and school-based chastity formation ministries
• Chair the Human Sexuality Formation Advisory Board
• Coordinate and host training events that equip parish and school leaders in the area of chastity formation
• Oversee the facilitation of Courage and EnCourage Omaha groups and provide ongoing support for leaders and members
• Facilitate relationships with peers and professionals including clergy working in the area of Same-Sex Attraction
• Oversee the PATH (Pornography Awareness, Truth & Healing) initiative, offering pertinent resources for parishes and schools to increase awareness of the prevalence and damaging effects of pornography, while also highlighting resources that bring healing and restoration to those harmed by pornography
• Chair the PATH Committee meetings
• Oversee Archdiocesan initiatives to promote Fertility Awareness/Natural Family Planning at the parish and deanery level
• Assist the Coordinator of Marriage Prep & Enrichment by recruiting, training, forming, and supporting presenters on marital chastity and Natural Family Planning for the archdiocesan marriage preparation program
• Provide constructive feedback to director about programs, facilities, and volunteers associated with archdiocesan events and programs.
• Maintain billing and payment records.
• Process inventories and assemble training materials and resources for programs and events
• All other duties as assigned by director

• Missionary disciple who embraces the Church’s mission to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, with special emphasis on St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body
• Ability to tactfully and charitably present the Church’s teachings on sexuality and chastity, while accompanying people of contrary lifestyles and/or convictions
• Ability to create, plan, implement and evaluate ministry and service offerings
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others through both written and verbal communication with a variety of personalities and work styles with understanding of the need for confidentiality and attention to business ethics
• Ability to make decisions within established parameters while working within the context of a multifaceted and necessarily cohesive work environment
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to chastity formation
• Friendly, courteous attitude in all interactions
• Confident presenter of prepared materials
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (spreadsheets, word processing, database and reporting tools)
• Ability to identify issues and implement effective, timely solutions
• Ability to work with difficult individuals while maintaining professional behavior
• Take inventory of stock and maintain event supplies

• Active, practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and full assent to all magisterial teaching, particularly as it relates to teachings on the new evangelization, marriage, family, life and sexuality
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Theology, Religious Studies, or related field is required. Master’s Degree or equivalent in Theology, Religious Studies, or related field is preferred
• Trained in and experienced practicing and teaching Fertility Awareness Method/Natural Family Planning (NFP) preferred
• Willingness to participate in ongoing formation as indicated by the office director

• Travel to rural location(s) within the archdiocese (Northeast Nebraska) about once per month; may require weekend overnight stay.
• Maintain regular office hours with flexibility to meet the needs of ministry partners and co-workers.
