Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in creating a safe, positive, organized, and Christ-centered learning environment. The TA works under the direction of the classroom teacher and assists with student supervision, classroom routines, instructional support, and other duties that contribute to the success of the classroom and school.
The Teacher Assistant is expected to model the values and expectations of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic School and to work collaboratively and professionally with teachers, staff, students, and families.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expectations:
Work cooperatively and respectfully with the classroom teacher and other staff members.
Follow the direction of the classroom teacher regarding classroom routines, student support, and assigned responsibilities.
Communicate concerns or questions directly and professionally with the classroom teacher and/or administration.
Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
Demonstrate patience, kindness, consistency, and professionalism when working with students.
Serve as a positive role model for students in attitude, language, behavior, and interactions with others.
Support and uphold the Catholic mission, values, and expectations of St. Stephen the Martyr School: United in Christ to ignite the joy of faith, community, and learning.

Education and Experience
Individual must get Safe Environment Trained.
