Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Support the social, emotional, behavioral, and spiritual well-being of all students through individual counseling, small group instruction, classroom lessons, and targeted interventions.Implement and coordinate a school-wide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program aligned with the mission and values of Holy Cross Catholic School.
Provide students with instruction and support in areas such as emotional regulation, coping skills, resilience, empathy, conflict resolution, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and positive relationships.
Support school-wide behavioral initiatives, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), SOAR expectations, and the integration of the Boys Town Behavioral Model to promote consistent, proactive, and skill-based behavioral supports.
Collaborate with teachers to provide classroom support, behavioral strategies, and social-emotional learning resources.
Serve as an active member of the Student Assistance Team (SAT), Resource Team, and MTSS process by identifying student needs, developing intervention plans, monitoring progress, and supporting student success.
Assist with the development and implementation of individualized behavioral and academic supports for students requiring additional assistance.
Consult and collaborate with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community resources to address student needs and provide appropriate supports.
Maintain accurate documentation and confidential student records while following professional and ethical standards.
Participate in professional development, faculty collaboration, and school initiatives that support a positive, inclusive, and faith-filled school culture.
Promote the dignity and uniqueness of every student as a child of God.
Support students through the lens of Catholic faith, Gospel values, and Catholic Social Teaching.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience working with children and adolescents in educational or counseling settings preferred.
Knowledge and experience with social-emotional learning, PBIS, MTSS, behavioral interventions, and trauma-informed practices preferred.
Experience with the Boys Town Behavioral Model or similar evidence-based behavioral support systems preferred.
Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.
Practicing Catholic preferred, or willingness to support and uphold the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
Education and Experience
Degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Nebraska School Counselor certification or eligibility preferred.
Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP), Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or comparable credential welcomed.
