Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Pius X/St. Leo School is seeking a passionate, dedicated Art Teacher to join our faith-filled, diverse learning community for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate is responsible for providing engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in visual arts for students in grades 4-8th. The teacher fosters creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while developing students' understanding of artistic techniques, art history, and appreciation for diverse cultures. The Art Teacher creates a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students are encouraged to explore their creativity and develop confidence in their artistic abilities. As a member of a Catholic school community, the teacher supports and models the mission and values of the school.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate demonstrates knowledge of:

Principles and practices of visual arts education.
Various artistic media, techniques, and processes.
Classroom management strategies.
Student assessment practices.
Curriculum planning and instructional design.
Technology applications that support art instruction.
Child development and adolescent learning.
Safety procedures related to art materials and equipment.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related field.
Valid Nebraska teaching certificate or eligibility for certification.
Safe-environment certified.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of visual arts curriculum and instructional best practices.
Commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic school.
