Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Mercy High School is a Catholic, all-girls high school rooted in the charism of the Sisters of Mercy. Guided by faith, compassion, and a commitment to justice, we educate young women to become confident leaders, critical thinkers, and women of conscience who use their gifts in service of others.Mercy High School in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a passionate and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher in Theology and/or Music for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
We will work with the selected candidate to supplement and support music lessons as needed. We are looking for an educator who values faith, relationships, and academic excellence while fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment for young women. Candidates should be enthusiastic about supporting students in both their intellectual and personal growth within the Mercy tradition. The position will start around October 1, 2026, until approximately January 11, 2027.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Deliver lessons and assessments using provided curriculum and materials
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and respectful classroom environment
• Provide daily instruction, feedback, and classroom environment
• Collaborate with department staff as needed
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree/Teaching certificate
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Commitment to collaboration and student success
• Ability to support the mission and values of Catholic education
