Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Mercy High School is a Catholic, all-girls high school rooted in the charism of the Sisters of Mercy. Guided by faith, compassion, and a commitment to justice, we educate young women to become confident leaders, critical thinkers, and women of conscience who use their gifts in service of others.

Mercy High School seeks passionate and dynamic educators to join our World Language Department. We are seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) teacher who inspires curiosity, cultural understanding, and global citizenship in students while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Native or near-native fluency in American Sign Language
● Commitment to fostering inclusive, student-centered classrooms
● Ability to build strong rapport with students, faculty, staff, and parents
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Enthusiasm for working in a mission-driven, collaborative school community
● Passion for promoting cultural awareness and language acquisition

Education and Experience
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Master’s degree is preferred in World Language, Education, or a related field
● Teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) preferred
● Previous teaching experience preferred
● Experience working with native signers and deaf culture strongly valued
