Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging lessons aligned with Nebraska State Standards and the Archdiocese of Omaha curriculum.- Create a faith-centered, positive, and structured classroom environment for students in middle school (6th - 8th).
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support differentiated learning and shared instructional strategies.
- Utilize assessments to inform instruction and provide regular academic updates to students and families.
- Foster a positive learning culture that emphasizes student growth, respectful behavior, and personal responsibility.
- Integrate Catholic values, virtues, and teachings into daily instruction and classroom management.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Participate in school-wide events, liturgies, professional development, and community-building activities.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Teach and differentiate engaging instruction in English Language Arts courses for 6th–8th grade.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to design engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a range of learning needs.
- Deep understanding of child development and instructional best practices for middle school students.
- A warm and compassionate approach to teaching in a faith-based environment.
- Comfortable integrating technology into classroom instruction and using digital platforms for grading, communication, and collaboration.
- Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of St. Cecilia Cathedral School.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree: Required.
Certification: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with a Language Arts (or relative) endorsement, or the ability to obtain a provisional certificate.
