Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Our parish is currently seeking a faithful and dynamic Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead and grow our faith formation programs. The DRE will oversee religious education for children and families, coordinate sacramental preparation for both the parish and school, and support and form catechists. We are looking for a practicing Catholic with a strong knowledge of the faith, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a passion for evangelization. This individual will work collaboratively with parish and school staff, as well as volunteers, to foster a vibrant culture of discipleship. Please keep this search in your prayers. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of the Catholic Faith
Thorough understanding of Catholic Scripture, Tradition, and Church teaching, including the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Familiarity with Church documents and a commitment to faithfully handing on the teachings of the Church.
Catechetical Formation
Knowledge of effective methods for teaching the faith to children, youth, and adults. Familiarity with various catechetical models and sacramental preparation processes, including OCIA, First Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion.
Pastoral and Parish Life
Understanding of parish dynamics, evangelization, and faith formation within a Catholic community. Awareness of diocesan policies, safe environment requirements, and best practices in ministry.
Leadership and Team Building
Ability to recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers. Strong leadership skills with a collaborative approach to working with parish staff, clergy, and families.
Organization and Administration
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs, schedules, and events. Experience with planning, budgeting, and maintaining records.
Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to engage effectively with children, parents, volunteers, and parish leadership.
Technology Skills
Proficiency in common office and communication tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email platforms, Zoom) and parish database systems.
Interpersonal Skills
Demonstrates patience, approachability, and professionalism. Ability to build relationships, resolve conflicts, and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Education and Experience
Bachelors/Masters degree in related field and/or extensive experience in Faith Formation
Excellent language and communication skills required
Able to meet Archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements
