Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Curriculum Design: Plan and implement a PE curriculum aligned with Nebraska State Standards for Physical Education and the Archdiocese of Omaha standards.
- Inclusive Environment: Create a faith-centered, structured, and safe environment where students of all athletic abilities feel encouraged to participate.
- Holistic Health: Integrate lessons on nutrition, wellness, and the "Theology of the Body" (as appropriate for the grade level) into the physical curriculum.
- Collaborative Spirit: Work with the administration and classroom teachers to coordinate school-wide events like Field Day or health-related initiatives.
- Assessment & Feedback: Utilize formative assessments to track student progress in motor skills and fitness levels, providing regular updates to families.
- Virtue in Action: Foster a culture of "competitive greatness" that emphasizes Catholic values, such as humility in victory and grace in defeat.
- Community Engagement: Participate in school-wide events, liturgies, and professional development; maintain active communication with parents regarding student health and behavior.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Active Class Management: Strong ability to manage large groups in an open gym or outdoor setting, ensuring safety and high engagement.
- Physical Literacy: Ability to design differentiated lessons that promote motor skills, teamwork, and lifelong fitness for students ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Developmental Expertise: Deep understanding of physical and social-emotional development across various age groups.
- Faith-Based Coaching: A warm and compassionate approach to teaching that views sportsmanship and physical health as reflections of our faith.
- Tech Integration: Comfortable using digital platforms for grading, attendance, and potentially utilizing fitness-tracking technology or health-based apps.
- Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to Catholic education and the specific mission of St. Cecilia Cathedral School.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required.
- Certification: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with a Physical Education endorsement, or the ability to obtain a provisional certificate.
