Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Job Purpose / OverviewThe Middle School Religion Teacher is responsible for fostering students’ spiritual, moral, and academic growth through engaging instruction in religious studies. The teacher supports students in developing a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith, scripture, tradition, and ethical living while creating a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.

-Plan and deliver age-appropriate religion curriculum aligned with school and diocesan standards
-Teach scripture, Church teachings, sacraments, prayer, morality, and social justice
-Integrate faith into daily instruction and model Christian values
-Lead prayer, reflections, and liturgical activities appropriate to middle school students
-Create a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, respect, and faith development
-Assess student learning using a variety of instructional and evaluation methods
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide faith formation initiatives
-Participate in school liturgies, retreats, service projects, and professional development
-Maintain classroom management consistent with school policies
Education and Experience
Required Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree (Religion, Theology, Education, or related field preferred)
-Practicing member of the faith tradition (for faith-based schools)
- Knowledge of middle school developmental stages
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills -Teaching certification or willingness to obtain required certification (preferred)
