Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Wenceslaus Catholic Elementary School, the Archdiocese’s largest preschool to 8th grade elementary school located in West Omaha, is currently accepting applications for an efficient and successful 8th Grade Literature and Language Arts teaching position for the 2026–27 school year.

This position requires the teacher develop lesson plans, formulates classroom instruction and facilitates learning for all students. The teacher will create a caring, Christian and positive learning environment for academic, social-emotional and spiritual development. The teacher will provide accommodations to support the student’s growth in the general curriculum and, if necessary, also work with resource staff to adjust instruction to meet the needs of all students.

The teacher will maintain students’ academic progress and records along with various assessments to document the progress of the student through the year. The teacher will maintain lines of communication between parents, students, their Instructional Para, administration, and fellow school staff.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*Effective classroom management
*Strong skills and in-depth knowledge in Literature and Language Arts
*Well-developed written and oral communication skills
*Familiar with and confident in technology systems (Smart boards, laptops, document cameras, etc.)
*Flexibility in adjusting to schedule changes
*Strong organizational and time management abilities
*Experience in small group instruction
*Experience with STAR 360 assessment
*Background in middle school education, committed to the Catholic faith, and well-developed classroom management
*Expertise in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in content area (ELA)

Education and Experience
Strong in understanding and living the Catholic faith
Bachelor Degree in Education
Possesses a valid teacher or provisional teacher certification from the State of Nebraska
Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred
Complete a background check and the Archdiocese of Omaha required Safe Environment training
