Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Mercy High School, an all-girls Catholic school is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled Assistant Principal / Activities Director to join our leadership team. This dual-role position is ideal for a student-centered educator and administrator who believes deeply in the formation of young women through academics, athletics, faith, and character.The Assistant Principal/Activities Director supports the Principal in advancing the school’s Catholic mission while providing leadership and oversight for a comprehensive, values-based athletic program. This individual will be a visible presence on campus, building strong relationships with students, families, faculty, and coaches.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Principal
● Support daily school operations, student life, and discipline in a manner rooted in restorative and faith-based practices.
● Foster a positive school culture aligned with Catholic identity and the mission of educating young women.
● Oversee the work study program.
● Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student growth, leadership, and well-being.
● Assist with supervision, scheduling, and school events as assigned by the Principal.
● Other duties as assigned by principal.
Athletic Director
● Lead and oversee all athletic programs, ensuring alignment with school mission and values.
● Hire, supervise, and support coaches with an emphasis on mentorship, sportsmanship, and student development.
● Manage athletic scheduling, budgets, compliance, and facilities.
● Serve as liaison with leagues, officials, parents, and the broader school community.
● Promote a culture where athletics complement academics, faith, and character formation.
● Other duties as assigned by Principal.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesQualifications
● Commitment to and understanding of Catholic education and the mission of an all-girls school.
● Administrative experience and/or athletic leadership experience at the secondary level.
● Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
● Ability to lead with compassion, clarity, and high expectations.
Education and Experience
● Bachelor’s degree required; Must qualify for Nebraska administrative and supervisory certificate.
