Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Evangelization and OutreachWelcome Week
• Develops and implements the vision for Welcome Week activities with a particular emphasis on meeting new students.
• Galvanizes student leaders for active engagement in Welcome Week events both on campus and at JPII Newman.
On Campus Presence
• Looks for and develops strategic opportunities to engage the student body, especially those who do not yet know Jesus.
• In collaboration with FOCUS missionaries, trains student leaders to engage the greater student body and encounter students outside of the JPII Newman community.
New Life Retreat (student-led kerygmatic retreat for new students)
• Offers organizational direction and support for retreat team.
Weekly Meal
• Foster community and a spirit of hospitality by coordinating a weekly Sunday evening meal.
Mentorship
• Provide vision and coaching for student leaders to build up the culture of hospitality and communal worship in robust liturgies. These efforts are in support of the JPII Newman Clear Path and creating an engaging environment for new students.
• Oversee consistent service opportunities.
Men’s Ministry
• Plan and facilitate gatherings and events for men that are aligned with our Clear Path of Discipleship.
• Offer direction and support to JPII Newman Knights of Columbus chapter
• Facilitate men’s chastity group (example: The Augustine Way)
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPracticing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Church and fidelity to her teachings, with an enthusiasm for helping others initiate or grow in relationship with Jesus.
Cultivates a rich sacramental and personal prayer life.
Ability to form and maintain healthy relationships, mentor students, and relate effectively to parents and staff.
Demonstrated history of rallying, inspiring, and organizing others to take action.
Demonstrated history of pushing projects or tasks to completion and achieving results.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills as well as proven administrative and organizational skills. Proven collaborator and team player.
Has a working knowledge of FOCUS.
Computer skills, including word processing, e-mail, and database software.
Consent to background check and Safe Environment Training.
Education and Experience
BA or BS preferred.
Two years of personal or professional experience with college ministry required.
At least two years of post-college work is desired.
Experience with liturgical music, a plus.
