Description
Reports to: Mary JenkinsPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to provide instructional support:- To the general education teacher in a balanced literacy program for at-risk students.
- For students in one-on-one or in small group in the resource setting or general education setting.
- To monitor and coordinate student progress on a regular basis, especially with the Student Assistance Team (SAT) process.
Ability to provide consultative services to parents and teachers on:
- Identification and verification of disabilities.
- Collection and evaluation of data for accommodations and progress monitoring.
- Integration in the general education setting.
Ability to coordinate individualized instructional planning on the following:
- Referral and assessment procedures
- Intervention strategies for student support during SAT process
- Collection of data for students in the pre-referral process.
- Verification and development of Accommodation plans.
- Organization of special education media and materials for the general education classroom.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProfessionalism, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
Strong knowledge of reading and math intervention strategies for struggling learners, Response to Intervention (RtI), and SAT/Special Education verification process.
High degree of multitasking and strong time management capabilities.
Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn new systems and adapt to procedural changes.
Education and Experience
Current Nebraska Teaching Certificate
Archdiocese of Omaha Safe Environment Training Certification
Bachelors (required); Master’s Degree in Education (preferred)
Minimum 3 years teaching experience
Specialized training in various research-based interventions and strategies.
