Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Marian High School is looking for a full-time Assistant Principal/Dean of Students for the 25-26 school year. The Assistant Principal/Dean of Students is a member of the school’s leadership team and is responsible for maintaining a positive, respectful and safe school environment. The Assistant Principal/Dean of Students ensures that student conduct reflects Marian’s Six Core Values and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and families to nurture a supportive and disciplined environment grounded in the mission of the school. The Dean will work directly with the Principal, Assistant Principals and counselors. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Secondary School Administration or be working toward it. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Oversee student discipline, ensuring consistent enforcement of school rules and policies that is in line with the mission of Marian High School.

• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with adolescents and adults.
• Ability to teach appropriate social skills to adolescents through daily interaction and the discipline process.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and respond to immediate crises.
• Ability to make sound judgments in reaction to the complex and subtle situations that arise during the school day.
• Develop and implement proactive behavior support systems, including restorative practices and positive behavior interventions.
• Monitor student attendance and follow up on chronic absenteeism or tardiness in collaboration with counselors and administrative staff.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding disciplinary issues, interventions, and student progress.
• Maintain detailed records of disciplinary incidents, interventions, and outcomes.
• Knowledge of relevant school and state policies and skill in analyzing and forming policies.
• Ability to listen to others and facilitate resolutions to problems.
• Knowledge of computers including Windows, Word, Excel, email, internet and school database software.
• Trained and certified in basic first aid, CPR and AED.
• Assist in emergency response and safety drills, and help develop crisis response protocols.
Education and Experience
• Master’s degree in Secondary School Administration or working toward a master’s degree.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
