Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Development is to collaborate with the Pastor, parish, and staff in implementing the mission of Saint Cecilia Cathedral. The Director will create, implement, and oversee all aspects of Stewardship Development and Constituent Engagement for the Parish, School, and Childcare Center.Responsibilities
Manage and grow a comprehensive development program
• Manage and enhance existing and create new and sustainable contributed income streams
o Enhance and manage the Annual Stewardship Appeal
o Conduct the Annual Cathedral Fund Appeal
o Expand the major gift and legacy gift programs
o Maintain an active portfolio of donor prospects and active donors
o Develop and execute plans to secure support from foundations and corporations
• Develop and maintain relationships with the Cathedral School and Child Care Center; facilitate and inform their fundraising activities when appropriate
• Develop engagement with Parish Pastoral, Finance Council, Board of Education, and Endowment Boards
• Communicate effectively about initiatives with all relevant constituencies
o Work with the Pastor and Director of Communications to incorporate Development into the annual communications plan
o Regularly create and publish Development messaging in multiple media
• Develop and maintain relationships with active Ministries and Cathedral Alumni
• Coordinate, facilitate, and inform volunteer chair efforts for primary fundraising events
• Maintain an up-to-date database of development contacts and activities
• Work closely with the Pastor and perform other related duties as requested by him

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEmbrace the mission and vision of Saint Cecilia Cathedral and be enthusiastic about promoting them
Knowledge of and experience in nonprofit development and major gift fundraising
Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ParishSoft or other CRM database software
The desire to get out of the office and build external relationships as well as being able to ‘make the ask’
Education and Experience
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or Marketing preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
