Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The STEM teacher will plan, teach, and assess STEM lessons to students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The teacher will be responsible for Integrated STEM curriculum and programming that meets the Archdiocese of Omaha standards and as well as providing assistance with other technology needs.

The STEM teacher provides instruction as a specialist (Science/Technology) and works with teachers to support best instructional practices using data, analysis of school-wide trends in instruction and makes recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. Candidates should have familiarity with and/or certification with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or willingness to be trained/certified. Our STEM Program was built using Next Generation Science Standards, CSTA & ISTE, Archdiocesan Math and ELA standards.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Plans, teaches and evaluates grade-level STEM lessons for students in grades 6-8
-Assess student performance and differentiate instruction for
-Organizes, develops and coordinates special STEM events/activities
-Able to collaborate with grade-level teachers to provide expert advice on improving and enhancing individual lessons and units based on ongoing analysis.
-Eagerness to attend professional development related to STEM programs and methodologies.
Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.

Education and Experience
-A technology background in tools such as Google for Education, ipads/chromebooks, knowledge of programming tools for students, 3D printing, microbits, VEX robotics - 123 & Go is preferred but optional.
-Valid NE Teaching Certificate
-Safe Environment Certified (Training Available)
