Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Load, transport, deliver, and unload items to Catholic Charities 'pantries, storage locations, clients, community partners, and from food service organizations in a safe, courteous, and timely manner.

• Assist in pantry logistical duties such as managing inventory, scheduling/receiving food donations, loading/unloading refrigerated trailers, and planning outreach handling and deliveries.

• Assist with preparation of food packages for clients, receiving donations, sorting and stocking food, and help pantry clients with intakes, as needed.

• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move large food loads and drive large trucks (up to 26-feet) to distribute food.
• Receive, record/report and unload, weigh, and organize food from appropriate vendors, donors, and the food bank.

• Use computer software to enter, maintain, and report operations data.

• Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety in all pantry areas, including pantry equipment.

• Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
- Weekend donations
- Mobile food pantries

• Reliable attendance is an expectation.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent verbal and written skills - Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with diverse clientele and exhibit compassionate customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational and logistical skills.
• Ability to move/handle heavy pallets.
• Ability or willingness to learn how to operate forklifts and drive a 26’ truck.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and other agency staff
• Sensitivity to all low-income persons and other disadvantaged persons with multi-cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to perform work in a manner that protects client confidentiality

Education and Experience
• One year of experience working in a retail store, pantry or warehouse setting, stocking or inventorying merchandise.
• Previous customer service experience helpful.
• High school Diploma or Equivalent
