HOURS PER WEEK: 40

POSITION SUMMARY
Spend your summer gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and philanthropy with the Archdiocese of Omaha. As an intern, you’ll conduct in-depth research on potential donors, identify new funding opportunities and collaborate with professionals on meaningful initiatives. This role offers valuable skills in research, strategic planning and communication while providing insights into donor relations and nonprofit operations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Gain hands-on experience in conducting in-depth research on individuals, companies and foundations to evaluate their potential to support the Archdiocese of Omaha.
• Learn and apply strategies to identify major donors, uncover new funding opportunities and support priority initiatives.
• Develop valuable skills in creative research techniques, relationship mapping and monitoring and updating current donors and prospects through past articles, current news alerts and social media.
• Collaborate with experienced professionals to design and refine research templates, including profiles and assessments, tailored to strategic goals.
• Work closely with the SDO team to align research with fundraising priorities and present findings effectively.
• Contribute meaningfully to projects and initiatives, gaining insights into nonprofit operations and the Archdiocese of Omaha.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Interest in philanthropy, nonprofits, or fundraising.
• Ability to collaborate and think creatively.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Background in and/or knowledge of the Catholic Church with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College Degree or Area of Study: Nonprofit Management, Business Administration or Management, Public Relations, Philanthropy or Fundraising Studies, Data Analytics or Information Science preferred.
• Year of Study: College Sophomore, Junior or Senior preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building.
