Principal Duties and Responsibilities
This person is the welcoming center of the parish office!As a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant, you will be the first point of contact. Duties include providing administrative support and greeting visitors. You also will coordinate front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence and directing phone calls
This position requires the ability to multi-task, connect things and people to the larger picture (framework of the parish and sometimes the University), and ability to prioritize things. Twenty to Thirty percent of the work involves scheduling masses, and events in the building. As the first person of contact in the office, daily tasks are often interrupted by the needs of others; this includes parishioners, students, visitors, and people looking for assistance and staff members. The ability to draw healthy boundaries while still assisting others in a pastoral and hospitable manor is essential. This position will require 25 hours a week, 5 days a week, Monday – Friday.

•Receptionist for Parish phone lines and front desk
•Scheduling of events
•Data Entry
•Mail – sort and send
•Office misc. tasks ( copies, laundry, assisting staff, filing)
•Parish Newsletter
•Media – webpage, Facebook
•Supply Purchasing
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCandidates should have the following qualifications and characteristics:
• Desire to support a culture of transparency, trust, teamwork and fulfill the mission of St. John’s parish.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and attention to detail essential.
• Hands-on experience with office equipment
• Solid written and verbal communication skills – social media experience
• Design, layout, and graphic skills – experience with Micro Soft Publisher a plus
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, to work independently and in a team, self-motivated, and initiative.
• Customer service attitude
• Discretion and confidentiality
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative, Administrative Assistant, or similar role
• Experience working for a Catholic Church or in a not-for-profit organization is a plus.
