Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Inclusive Catholic Education program, led by Madonna Ability Alliance in partnership with Holy Name, St. Pius/Leo, and St. Robert Bellarmine schools, is dedicated to expanding inclusive education opportunities for students with diverse abilities. The program seeks a highly qualified Elementary Special Education Teacher for a full-time position. Working as a partner to Madonna Ability Alliance and as a member of the school’s faculty/staff, the Elementary Special Education Teacher will serve as case manager, coordinating all resources, collaborating with classroom teachers, and executing best practice inclusive instruction, strategies, and interventions to support students with mild to moderate intellectual & developmental disabilities, autism, and other health impairments in the least restrictive learning environment. The Special Education Teacher will directly support the efforts of Madonna’s Director of Elementary and Instructional Coaches to partner with and professionally develop all faculty and staff. The Special Education Teacher will be a pivotal resource in strengthening relations between home, parish, school, and classroom, as well as expanding and enhancing inclusive instructional practices across the school.

•Develop and implement annual individualized student plans.
•Schedule individualized student plan meetings to include all team members.
•Collect data for on-going progress monitoring.
•Apply evidence-based learning strategies and interventions to support student’s individualized plans and progress.
•Manage a safe and effective learning environment.
•Collaborate and consult with general education teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners to support each student’s learning outcomes.
•Serve as a local, school-based expert in the area of inclusive Special Education and model collaboration, co-teaching, and commitment to ongoing and continuous professional development.

•Exhibit mastery of developing, coordinating and delivering inclusive individualized instructional and educational services to students with learning needs, including students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, and other health impairments.
•Exhibit mastery of the processes and procedures of providing special education services within an inclusive framework, including co-teaching practices.
•Exhibit a strong ability to effectively analyze student needs and problem solve leveraging all available resources.
•Exhibit a strong ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners.
•Background check and Safe Environment Certification required before beginning employment.

Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s in Special Education
•Master’s in Education or related field preferred but not required
•Must hold or can obtain a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement
