Principal Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our staff. You will playan important role in providing our students with disabilities with the academic support they need.
Under the supervision of the Special Education teacher, you will work students in small groups or
provide individualized attention either inside the regular classroom or through our inclusive
program. Duties and responsibilities include:
● Follow the lead of the Special Education Teacher
● Effectively observes assigned work hours.
● Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance
● Follows the daily schedule
● Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning materials
● Assist students with work
● Review material with students one-on-one or in small groups
● Ensure students follow school and class rules
● Prepare for lessons by gathering materials or setting up equipment, as directed by the teacher
● Track attendance, correct papers, and calculate grades
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities● Maintains a cooperative working relationship with Principal, supervising teacher, students, parents, staff and public
● Participates in professional learning activities which align with school
improvement goals
● Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community
● Attends staff meetings, and serves on committees as required
● Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or Principal
● Helps supervise students in classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, school yards, gymnasium, and on field trips.
● Communicates clearly and positively with students and all stakeholders.
● Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as supervising snack time, restroom breaks, class change and clothing routines
Education and Experience
● High school degree or equivalent; Associate degree in education or a related field preferred
● 2+ years of experience as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or similar position
● Experience working with elementary-aged students
● Excellent communication and organizational skills
● Proficient with technology
● Flexible schedule
