POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Intern
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
REPORTS TO: Human Resources Director
EFFECTIVE DATE: January 2, 2025
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
HOURS PER WEEK: 40 hours per week preferred
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Intern will assist the Human Resources staff with projects and daily administrative duties. Responsibilities will include conducting employee file audits, assisting with talent acquisition activities, and event coordination.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under guidance of the HR staff, review employee files for compliance with applicable federal and state laws.
• Assist with relocation and organization of employee and other human resources files.
• Provide support for recruiting activities such as posting open positions and scheduling candidate interviews.
• Assist with onboarding to include processing new hire paperwork, coordinating new hire announcements and other welcome activities.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of employee events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and via email, instant messaging and text.
• Driven with a strong desire to contribute to the success of a team.
• Research and analytical skills with an ability to grasp technical details.
• Ability to handle confidential information and data.
• Display the highest level of integrity.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Background in and/or knowledge of the Catholic Church with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled or a recent graduate at a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a closely related field.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Not applicable.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Employees of the of the Archdiocese of Omaha will have knowledge of the Catholic faith, a willingness to work for a Catholic, faith-based organization and adhere to the policies of the Archdiocese of Omaha. Employees will not publicly oppose the teachings of the Catholic faith nor publicly advocate for any position in conflict with Catholic teaching, or the specific positions of the Archdiocese of Omaha or the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This requirement includes any public speech, demonstration or writing including the use of social media or other digital technologies.
