Description
Reports to: PrincipalPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities
Build relationships with all families based upon trust and mutual respect through ongoing visibility and communicationDevelop, manage and oversee engagement, enrollment, orientation, and retention plans for Hispanic/Latino students in cooperation and under the direction of the Principal;
Maintain cultural awareness and sensitivity to work with various cultures of our school families;
Assist in the development and dissemination of bilingual parent information in regards to all school and community matters as necessary;
Facilitate activities and meetings to help all stakeholders, internal and external, in understanding Hispanic/Latino culture, language and educational attainment gaps;
Attend school staff meetings to participate and be aware of school activities on the calendar; work with school staff to plan programs and organize parent and community volunteers for these activities that increase family participation in school activities and school site activities;
Assist in the Enrollment process as needed. This may include accompanying principal for school tours and completing enrollment information as needed for incoming Hispanic/Latino Students and all families regardless of ethnicity or race;
Assist all families with completing scholarship and financial aid applications;
Cooperate with school office staff in maintaining accurate files and student records;
Schedule and attend various outreach events in high schools, community centers and neighborhoods that serve Hispanic/Latino populations;
Plan and implement monthly new family and latino outreach events for students and families, as well as work with a committee to plan, organize, and implement one annual multicultural event
Act as translator on occasions as needed for school tours and parent/teacher conferences;
Other responsibilities as required and assigned
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong verbal and written proficiencies of Spanish/English languages is required
Valid Nebraska Driver’s License and good driving record preferred
A deeply rooted belief that all students can and will learn, as failure is not an option
Excellent attendance record
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Positive interpersonal skills
This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
Strong verbal and written proficiencies of Spanish/English languages is required
Ability to work with students in grades Preschool-8
Ability to maintain professional relationships with families
Must complete Safe Environment Certification and undergo a background check
Committed to the mission of Holy Name and the CUES School System
Experience working with a diverse populations is preferred
