Position Summary:

In union with the Archdiocesan Pastoral Vision and the goal to become a missional community, the St. Benedict the Moor Director of Discipleship promotes the mission to evangelize and catechize parishioners, inactive Catholics, and all searchers and seekers of Jesus Christ. Because St. Benedict the Moor is the sole historically Black Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Omaha (and the entire state of Nebraska), these evangelization efforts have a particular emphasis on the Black Catholic community. To this end, the Director will oversee evangelization efforts at St. Benedict the Moor Parish primarily through equipping leaders for evangelization. The role includes program creation & management as well as discipleship formation. The incumbent will also collaborate with the Sacred Heart Director of Discipleship to develop and maintain the steps of the parish family’s Clear Path of Discipleship. This position plays an active role in parish leadership, volunteer coordination, and program and ministry support.

The Archdiocese of Omaha requires every parish family to identify at least one “Evangelization Coordinator”. The St. Benedict the Moor and Sacred Heart Directors of Discipleship fulfill this requirement for their respective parish.

This is a year-round, part-time position that will routinely require evening and occasional weekend duties. As such, work hours are flexible in consultation with the Pastor.
