Principal Duties and Responsibilities

St. Stephen the Martyr School is currently looking for an 8th grade English/Language Arts teacher (ELA).This position also includes having 8th grade homeroom responsibilities. The teacher will develop lesson plans, formulate classroom instruction, and work collaboratively with the middle school ELA department to ensure alignment. The ideal candidate should understand the importance of building strong positive relationships and tailoring instruction to meet all student needs. The teacher will create a caring, Christian, and positive learning environment for academic, social-emotional, and spiritual development. The teacher will attend to the student's academic progress, understand and use data and assessments effectively, and create and maintain a partnership with parents and other staff members.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Provide a challenging curriculum for 8th-grade students in English/ Language Arts that aligns with the Archdiocese and state standards.
Maintain a positive classroom environment that is both restorative and conducive to learning and growth.
The teacher will assess student proficiency and adjust teaching to address each student's need to be successful.

Education and Experience
A valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Provisional Nebraska Teaching Certificate preferably with the appropriate endorsements.
Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
Applicant must complete a background check and the Archdiocese of Omaha required Safe Environment training.
