Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• The Pastoral Minister will work with the priests and parish staff to provide pastoral leadership and support for designated ministry groups within the parish.• The Pastoral Minister is the primary staff person who deals with aid requests, both walk-in as well as those received by email or over the phone.
• The Pastoral Minister coordinates the Parish’s ministry to the sick, including hospital ministry, supporting the three care facilities in the Parish, and the homebound ministry.
• The Pastoral Minister handles most of the prep and execution aspects for funerals in the Parish.
• The Pastoral Minister manages the Prayer Ministry, including the Prayer Line.
• The Pastoral Minister handles other duties as discerned.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Shows compassion and willingness to help others
• Is a self-starter, and works independently
• Demonstrate flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
• Proficiency and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn and use MS Office tools.
• Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and carry out responsibilities independently
• Reliable work attendance and ability to respond to after-hours emergency situations
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to attend meetings after business hours
• Maintain Archdiocesan Safe Environment certification
Education and Experience
• Must be Safe Environment certified
• Knowledge and practice of Catholic doctrine and theology
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 2 years experience with pastoral-type ministry.
• Some ability to speak Spanish is helpful but not required.
