CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Part-Time, Ministerial

HOURS PER WEEK: 40 hours during Totus Tuus programming; 5-10 hours during preparation for and closing of program

POSITION SUMMARY

The Totus Tuus Coordinator is a seasonal position responsible for coordinating the Totus Tuus summer program in collaboration with other members of the Office of Vocations. This position is responsible for coordinating the hiring, training, coaching and oversight of Totus Tuus missionaries and serving as first contact for parishes for the duration of the Totus Tuus program. The Totus Tuus Coordinator shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recruit and hire Totus Tuus missionaries who are passionate about their faith and have a desire to work with youth and grow disciples.
• Collaborate with Vocations Director to determine Totus Tuus teams and establish schedule for each participating parish.
• Provide clear and regular communication with parish contacts regarding Totus Tuus schedule, introduction of team members, and other important details.
• Create and facilitate training for the Totus Tuus missionaries to equip them to spend a summer teaching and ministering to young people. Create an environment for missionaries to grow personally and professionally.
• Review and update curriculum for grade school and evening programs. Provide curriculum materials to individuals assisting with the program including parish contacts and other facilitators.
• Ensure all missionaries have completed safe environment training prior to the start of Totus Tuus.
• Coordinate all supplies for each team, ensuring all materials are ready and available in advance of the program start date.
• Provide on-going support throughout the summer program for missionaries and parishes to include coaching of missionaries and conflict resolution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of and experience with the Totus Tuus program preferred.
• Ability to design and implement effective training for Totus Tuus missionaries required.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of situations using interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques required.
• Demonstrate organizational skills, capable of overseeing multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and prioritizing activity required.
• Exhibit integrity, accountability, productivity, and teamwork required.
• Proven self-starter, well organized and able to perform multiple tasks with competing priorities required.
• Responds with a sense of urgency required.
• Ability to take direction from Vocations Director and work collaboratively in a team environment required.
• Excellent communications skills including verbal and written communication required.
• Strong human relations and interpersonal skills with ability to coach others in these skills required.
• Able to work evenings (1-2 per week), weekends (1-2 per month) with increased availability during the summer months required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church, with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Catechetical training or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a Catholic religious education environment as an educator or practicing catechist with at least one year experience educating youth required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• 25-35% travel throughout the archdiocese to meet with Totus Tuus Missionaries, parish staff, and Directors of Religious Education.
