Principal Duties and Responsibilities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Enhance the spiritual growth of 6th – 8th graders by assisting in the implementation of the junior high curriculum.
• Facilitate the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation by:
o Assuring compliance with sacramental and service hour requirements
o Planning lessons, which explain the sacrament to parents and students
o Planning and facilitating 8th grade retreats and the Confirmation Reflection
• Work with the Director of Youth Ministry to integrate activities into the Confirmation program to enhance the mission of St. Stephen the Martyr
• Help out when necessary, by performing other duties within the Religious Education Department
• Assign and monitor the work of volunteer catechists
• Work with catechists and coordinators to determine needs for supplies, catechists, books.
• Visit classrooms to assist and support catechists in tandem with the Director of Youth Ministry
• Work with parish and school staff to facilitate Confirmation, retreats, and programs.
• Participate in Religious Education staff meetings and other meetings as requested
• Recruit and train volunteer catechists


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
• Must have knowledge in teachings of the Catholic Church and an understanding of the “Big Goal” of the Archdiocese
• Seek out opportunities to further education and ministry experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is helpful, but not required

Education and Experience
• Must have a high school diploma
