Description
Reports to: Director of Evangelization & DiscipleshipPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize and execute the Family Formation program for K-6 children and parents.Recruit, train and lead the catechist and volunteer teams ministering to children and parents.
Advertise the Family Formation program and register families.
Forms relationships with parents, children and catechists to accompany them on their faith journey.
Facilitate communications with staff, catechists and families.
Creates and oversees ministry to children of the parish (e.g. Children's Liturgy of the Word, VBS, etc.) and to parents.
Partners with the Evangelization Team for family life/marriage enrichment.
Partners with the Youth Ministry Team at St. Columbkille parish for Teen Faith program and recruits St. Gerald parishioners to lead Y-Disciple small groups for teens.
Oversees sacramental preparations for the children and youth of the parish including Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation retreats.
Plans the liturgies for First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation working with office of the Archbishop, parents and catechists.
Plan and direct RCIC program for parents and children that are behind on their sacrament preparation.
Choose curriculum for Confirmation and communicate expectations to parents, students, sponsors, and catechists.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCommitted to regular personal prayer time and encouraging and accompanying others in this area.
Strong understanding of theology and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Must have flexibility in work hours with availability on Wednesday evenings and other availability as needed.
Ability to teach and train others.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
2+ years of pastoral ministry experience.
A passion for ministering to youth and families and desire to see family ministry as integral to making disciples.
