Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of cash receipts, deposits, journal entries, other required reports and documentation to ensure compliance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing or accrediting bodies in the course of performing job expectations;
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Handles Accounts Receivable and Payable
• Manage cash receipts on site.
• Assist with financial donation bookkeeping
• Responsible for reviewing expenditures for assigned programs, grants, billings and/or projects
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
• Support special projects.
• Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Minimum of a BA; finance or accounting preferred
2. At least 2-5 years of accounting experience.
3. Knowledgeable with double-entry accounting (debits, credits), and reconciliations; understands the chart of accounts, trial balance, and balance sheet.
4. Experienced in using Quickbooks.
5. Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Teams or Zoom teleconferencing platforms as well as experience with standard office equipment.
6. Experience in non-profit and / or grant accounting a plus
7. Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
8. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization
9. Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with -- programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

13. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8AM to 4:30PM. Potential for some teleworking. Minimal overtime.
14. Successfully complete pre-employment background screening

Education and Experience
1. Minimum of a BA; finance or accounting preferred
2. At least 2-5 years of accounting experience.
