POSITION TITLE: Intern, FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries
DEPARTMENT: FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
EFFECTIVE DATE: February 20, 2023
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
HOURS PER WEEK: 40
POSITION SUMMARY
Intern will assist the office in planning, implementation, and analysis of ongoing products and events for FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries and its ministry partners. Specific areas of operation are analysis of pre-marriage formation and marriage enrichment, implementation of quality customer support, and affective communication to clients and partners. Specific goals and objectives will be communicated to the intern at the beginning of employment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet with the director to determine the scope and timetable for specific projects as assigned.
• Actively collaborate with director and the FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries staff on assigned responsibilities.
• Keep a log of work performed and provide regular progress updates to director.
• Maintain ongoing and open communication with director about assigned responsibilities.
• On-site preparation, set-up/clean-up, and coordination of project-related events.
• Support the projects and ministry through in-person contact, phone, mail, or e-mail communications with internal personnel as well as client/vendor relations.
• Assist with documentation and maintaining of records and databases in keeping with FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries and Archdiocesan standards, particularly those related to sacramental preparation.
• Assist with FOCCUS™ Marriage Ministries communication related to internship projects, both in-house and to the public in web related and social media activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Committed to ongoing training and professional development; regularly explore methods to improve quality and efficiency of work.
• Intellectual and experiential knowledge of the Catholic Church desired, particularly as it relates to teaching on family, the domestic church, and lay ministry.
• Knowledge of and/or desire to learn principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
• Develops actions and plans in relation to others; share knowledge and information with others as helpful and appropriate; and contribute to team efforts.
• Positively and accurately represent the department and the Archdiocese; respond to information requests promptly.
• Proficient in computer and keyboard skills as well as an ability to learn and effectively use software relevant to job duties (i.e., Microsoft office suite, Zoom, Slack, etc.).
• Make sound decisions based on available information; inspire other’s involvement in problem solving and implementing solutions.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to establish strong, positive, interpersonal relations with a variety of personalities and work styles. Understanding of the need for situational confidentiality and attention to business ethics.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree or Area of Study: Education, Business, Theology, Philosophy, or Ministry
• Year of Study: Junior or Senior preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building.
• Maintains regular office hours with flexibility to meet the needs of ministry partners and co-workers.
