Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for the development and dissemination of a consistent parish message, via multiple media sources and events, in support of our parish vision: Encountering Jesus – Making Disciples – Transforming Lives. This position will develop and implement comprehensive communications plans, aimed to reach a variety of audiences, meeting each person where they are in their relationship with Jesus and the Church. The Director of Communications and Marketing must be a good collaborator, creative thinker and self-manager.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of current internal and external parish communications
• Develop and implement a communications strategy that focuses on the parish vision
• Create dynamic multimedia content and update parish website and social media channels
• Capture and celebrate parish life, telling our story through various communication channels and media, including appropriate parish and school events and achievements
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist in capturing and celebrating parish life
• Collaborate with parish ministries to address marketing needs for events/programs as dictated by the parish calendar
• Update the information packet for new parishioners
• Promote consistent branding/logo for all parish communication, office materials and signage
• Evaluate and determine when outside expertise is required and engage vendors, as needed


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills with the ability to produce materials quickly and in a variety of styles
• Working experience with major social media platforms
• Working experience with designing & updating websites
• Working experience with photography, videography and live streaming
• Ability to recruit, lead and work with a wide variety of volunteers
• Self-motivated, artistic, creative and innovative; able to work under minimal supervision
• Organize and manage multiple communication projects by planning, delegating and executing tasks to meet deadlines
• Familiarity with audio/video editing tools
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Facebook and YouTube
• Preferred familiarity with Canva, FlockNote, ReStream
• Ability to learn new software and hardware systems as needed
• Work flexible hours (occasional evenings and weekends) in accordance with the demands of the position

Education and Experience
• Professional experience in Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• A Bachelor’s Degree and/or advanced degree in any of these disciplines preferred.
