Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Omaha Catholic School Consortium (OCSC) Development Officer advances the mission and vision of Catholic Schools in southeast Omaha by implementing high quality and spiritually impactful programs that develop the leadership and resources to meet their priorities. The OCSC Development Officer will support these efforts with a focus on significantly expanding the awareness of, participation in and support for the OCSC Annual Appeal and assisting with raising the funds for special projects as they develop.

Work with Executive Director, the Development Associate and the OCSC Board to create goals and strategies for a successful, sustainable and growing Annual Fund.
Responsible for developing and maintaining the major gifts portfolio for the OCSC to both maintain and increase support for the Annual Fund and to understand donor interests in order to match those interests with critical OCSC priorities.
Work closely with the Development Associate, the Marketing Coordinator and the Executive Director to define and rollout the Annual Fund.
Directly pursue financial support from local and national foundations that support Catholic Schools.
Work with the OCSC Marketing Coordinator to increase community awareness of the OCSC.
Work with Executive Director to develop strategies for creating strong connections between OCSC schools, parishes and the local community
Support activities in OCSC schools and ensure donor awareness of key school activities.
Coordinate activities with the Archdiocesan Development Office.
Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Active member of a Catholic parish and commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church and Archdiocese of Omaha
Ability to work on a team and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to ask prospective donors for gifts to support the efforts of the OCSC
Ability to lead staff and volunteers successfully
Strong understanding of the essential components of development
Ability to develop relationships on behalf of the OCSC
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of five years of experience in developing relationships that lead to financial engagement.
